Forum:
Upon checking my manual to get parts together to service my Sirion 4trak I am a little confused. I changed the air filter last year as I was not 100% certain it had been done the year before (before I bought the car). It appears in my manual that the filter should be cleaned every year but only changed every 2 years, is this correct? I've had K&N filters before, and would get another if they did it for the 1.3, but I've never known an OE air filter that can be cleaned. I was going to replace it anyway but my local motor factor doesn't even have it listed. Do I need to try and find one, if so are there any better filters for similar cost eg is it worth putting one of the Rally filters in?

The YRV manual says to clean
The YRV manual says to clean it, and replace it every 3 years under normal driving conditions iirc. I blow mine out with Nitrogen every so often although it does need replacing now; my car is 6 years old with 24k on the clock and is on original filter from new. If it looks clean in between the pleats then blow it out if you can and keep it. It depends on the miles you've done since you fitted it and how dirty it is; age has nothing to do with it really imo. If you have only done a short mileage in general conditions chances are it's ok. (your book will give a mileage between changes)
Go to http://www.blueprint-adl.co.uk/ and find a local motor factor who will find one for you. As for an upgraded one, I am not sure but I'm sure Bob F on here might know if he's still around??
Cheers
