Snorkel top.

Forum:

I want to make a snorkel for my fourtrak but i dont know what to use as an intake at the top. Also would people recommend keeping the existing filter and housing under the bonnet and running the snorkel into there, or run it straight into the intake (remove existing filter and housing) Help and pics appreciated!

hi

Leave all the air box as it is and just run correct size pipe of where the original rectangle to circle inlet goes, then cut hole in wing out with pipe bish bash bosh lots of sealant etc, jubilee clips, blah blah blah, nice tops can be brought of ebay cheap just measure and get the correct one, the snorkel will work and look as good as the time put into making it!!!, i do have dogsbosses pictures on my hardrive i can put up if he doesnt mind/ have them etc of what he done. Smile

Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

Snorkel

Agree with this comment, leaving the original filter in will give protection if the underwing pipes get damaged, which they frequently do.
Air filters are cheap insurance in protecting your engine, there is no problem with fitting an additional filter on the top of the snorkel.
One piece of advice is to use a high capacity filter on the snorkel, use one from a reputable manufacturer which can be removed, cleaned, and re-oiled before refitting.
