Indicator problems

Forum:

Hi,

My indicators and hazards have completely stopped working on my 2001 fourtrak Cray 2 Cray 2 , even the flashing lights on the dashboard do nothing.

Its typical- the car had a full service and MOT 2 weeks ago and then this!

I had a read on here and saw a similar post and it said to check the fuse then the flasher unit. The fuse is fine.

Please bear in mind I know absolutely nothing about cars so need very basic instructions.

I went and bought a new flasher unit from a local shop but when I went to look to see where it goes I discovered some dangling wires above the clutch pedal.

If I wriggle inder the clutch and look up I can see a rectangular black box ( which might be a booster for towing???) it seems to be a genuine daihatsu part. It has a red and a black wire coming out of the bottom with femal spade connectors on the end but they are dangling and not connected to anything. I can also see a light blue moulded plastic connector which appears to have 2 female spade connectors in this is also dangling and not connected to anything. I can also see what looks just like the flasher unit I bought from the shop mounted above the clutch it is a black cube about 3cm across which has 3 male spade connectors which have nothing attached.

Should these things be attached or is that just a red herring.

I get a variety of clicks and clunks when I try the indicators.

If anyone has any ideas then please help!

Flasher

If it looks similar and has three male connectors then it is the flasher unit. Some units might be longer. The owner might have fitted a more powerful version for use with a caravan/trailer etc.

that happened to me

just fixed its self, give the box a tap and try the indicators on and off a few times, mine have been going six weeks after stopping with no spares
