Rear leaf spring

Hi

I replaced a broken 5 leafer ( some later models had only 3 leaves so ensure you get the correct replacement)some years ago. The replacement from Milner was pre installed with Poly bushes and the rear had a grease nipple.

There are the two bolts to remove from the end schackles and the two U bolts (4 nuts) that secure the centre to a plate. It is probably wise to use new U bolts but those supplied to me twice by Miner were to lage to go through the holes in the securing plate. Dont expect any of these bolts to come off easily as corrosion will more than likely have ceased them. Overnight treatment with a good Plus Gas oil may help as will heat but obviously take care of petrol pipes and fumes from the brether I placed a troy jack beneath the axle and lifted the whhel just off the grong and then placed one beneath the end to take the pressure off the securring bolt and bush plus to avoid a sudden wollop on my shin onece the spring was released.Once bothh ends were off I them removed the nuts from the centre plate whilst supporting the axle beneath the bando, rear diff. The plate has, If I recall has a locating pin but for some reason my plate had to be replaced, I know the shocks went shortly after and the shock retaining pin sheared off. Ensure that the pin locates into the hole on the new spring and then replace the u bolts but tighten by hand at this pint. You will need a couple of good trolly jacks to bend the springs up to the shackels. I recal I mounted the U bolts and then ahhached one end before jacking up the other , I think the front was the last as it wasn't a lot of distance to meet the shackel, sorry to be vague. Once all were in place then tighten the lot up and thats is it.
