Forum:
Right took my troublesome jalopy to the mechanics today.... thinking, thermostat.... 40 quid.....
Two hours later got a call to say that the head gasket had gone as well as the thermostat.
So the brown gunk in the rad was oil, it is gonna cost me a fortune to get repaired, £400 plus. The cam belt is due to be changed in about a thousand miles, so while everything is being taken apart, I may as well get that done as well.
I do love the little thing, so I am thinking, If I am going to spend money like that, I may as well go the whole hog and pimp it up a little, so I am considering getting a soft top for it.
Does anyone know where I can get one for my Feroza, at quite a fair price?? Is there a supplier in the UK that most people go to? Also, Would I have to get anything on the vehicle modified to fit one?
Thanks Jen

Sorry to hear of all the problems you are having. If you are the lady I wrote to sometime ago I would consider seeking a second quote as didn,t the garage put a different engine in after a head gasket failure, and haven't they recommended and done considerable work already, perhaps a different lady.
Regardless the soft tops are available from Daihatsu at a very handsome price. I purchased on e some 12 years ago at over £400 then and it was and looked rubbish. They do appear on Ebay and that is where I would go. The kit contains the lot, ner rubbers, mounting clips and poppers for predrilled and tapped holes in the bodywork. Personally I hate them and have used my own twice and on the first occaision the front popper came away from the fabric. If you buy 2nd hand make sure you get the complete set up and not just the hood. There shoud be the screww in poopers, a front rubber seal and a new rear door seal plus a couple of nylon screw plugs for the rear corner plus to off shapped black bits of rubber for the tops of the rear cornerc.

Hi there, I think that must
Hi there, I think that must be another lady, I haven't had anything done to the vehicle since I bought it last year, I would normally get a second opinion, but I do trust the guy I went to. He has looked after numerous cars for me, he is just one bloke with a small wooden lockup base, and I know he has done me real favours in the past re repairs etc. Also, when I haven't quite had the cash to pay, he is always happy to let me take the car and home and pay when I can.
I have been told about a carhood place near Heathrow.... The price on the website is £345.00 including all fittings etc, the will do all of the fixings while you wait..... it takes about an hour so I might go for it later in the year if I can't find somewhere cheaper.
hold off
may sound silly but changing the head can change the vehicle, throw up more problems, i had a hilux which i loved but sold it a few months after cos it was never the same
the head is the heart of the vehicle (although i suppose technically the pump is the heart lol)
