Forum:
driving home tonight in 1996 2.8TDL wanted to blast a golf driver at a roundabout who couldn't stay in lane cos he couldn't keep his phone on his shoulder! Horn didn't work as I was turning but after on a straight bit was OK. Checked later same thing happened.
Will look on Saturday but has anyone got the quick fix cos its happened to them. Rgds

Got the horn ?
If the horn push is on the steering wheel it may be earthed down the steering column, through the steering box and into the chassis. There may be a wire to connect the two parts of the column which are connected by a rubber doughnut just above the box. I would check this first. You can always replace the horn with a bulb when testing to avoid annoying the neighbours !!
Horn
The cicuit from the horn push is taken to the column by a copper bar running round a copper track on the column allowing constant connection whilst the wheel is turned. The horn push is connected to this by a wire within the Boss. Check this part is intact and clean and that the wire is connected securely. Clean all the contacts if they are all still servicable.
