Heat Sensor Replacement for 1.6 elxi

Forum:

Hi there,

My sporty is off the road at the mo Cray 2 due to a faulty heat sensor. I have purchased a new one from my local dealer at a cost of £60 and when i got a quote £250 to fit it i thought i would have a go myself.

I have disconnect the faulty one so my sporty will start after a few a goes and drive. However talk about needing small hands to fit the knew one !!! Does anyone know the easiet way to replace it ?? ie. what to take off the engine to gain easy access ??

Any help would be very much appreciated

Cheers,

Heat sensor

Hi there,

Apologies for delay replied bt internet been down ! No change there !!

Many thanks for you help. However it's not the sensor you are talking about. It's the heat sensor that sends info to the EFI ECU. If your standing over the engine its located right at the back dead centre of the engine. just above the clutch housing. A real pain in the backside to get to!

Thanks for your response anyway Smile

I'm faily sure you do, I

I'm faily sure you do,

I managed to do it without taking anything off, and I have sausage fingers.

I used my a 19mm (I think) deep reach socket just wangle the socket over the whole of the sensor right back to the engine, check your all the way over with a mirror, then attach the ratchet, gently tap the rachet with a hammer till you break the lock and then remove.

P.S drain the coolent out before you start...
