Terios Burning Oil

Forum:

I have a 1998 Terios with 1300cc engine. I had to have valves replaced recently because two were badly burned. After that the terios is now losing oil at the rate of about a pint per 100 miles. There are apparently no leaks but we are seeing white or dark grey smoke from the exhaust when the engine is revved. There is no sign of smoke when the oil feed cap is removed or when the breather pipe is disconnected.

Anyone able to help?

thats a lot of oil....

Its strange you say white smoke... ususaly that indicates water (coolant). and dark grey smoke... I would expect if your loosing oil. could be worn piston rings, The engine's valve seals may be worn (unlikely if they have just been replaced properly) or Damaged / worn valve guides (again unlikely).

I would take it to the garage you had the work done and try and get them to sort it out under waranty.

If not. other day I was in halfords just browsing the additives for engines while my mate got some bits and noticed there was one that claims to repair worn pistons, it could be worth a shot, but I wouldn't hold out to much hope. and as a last resort ASDA do cheep oil.
