Totaly agree with the
Totaly agree with the hi-lift. Ad a hand winch, and basicly you can get your car out of just about anything by yourself (with some elbo grease). As for a mounted winch, if you want to go to the troble and expence, anything with a pull of more than 2500Kg will be good. 3500Kg to make sure. Remember if your trying to pull your car up over a lip of a hole, the pull load can be more than the weught of the car.
Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

winch bumper
hi simon
look at fourtrac image galleries padge 5 about halfway down
good product and good delivery
On the pull
On the Daihatsu the best winch to fit is a 9500lb model, these are easy to find, and many makers supply models at all prices.
Suggest a Champion, these are cheap, and fairly durable, and line pulling speed is not an issue as you are not in competition.
Additional works would be to uprate your battery to a suitable size for the winch.
Ensure it comes supplied with steel cable, or a synthetic rope.
Ensure you have a suitable ground anchor, strops for wrapping around trees, so as not to damage them, and a supply of shackles to use.
Never wrap the winch hook back aroung the winch cable, and KEEP THE CHILDREN, AND OTHERS AWAY FROM THE WINCH ROPE WHILE WINCHING, a breaking or trapped rope will kill if it lets go.
wincccchhhhh
How deep is your pocket???you can add any winch you like, as long as it has a pulling capacity of no less than four ton, because you have to think about bulldozing mud etc, also how much is it going to be used?, lots of little things to consider, including battery power - double battery for big winches, split chargeing systems etc, go on a proper 4x4 web site to look into it, the list of winches out there is endless
Full of ideas but no time to do them!!
