hi ,at a guess ,i would say it might be the cam bearings,could have a blocked oil passage,hope im wrong m8,it could mean a new head ,regards.

Lack of information
1. Is the radiator coolant disappearing? Do not rely on viewing the reservoir level because an air lock can prevent water being drawn from the reservoir. Take the rad cap off and look inside at the coolant level.
2. What colour is the inside of the exhaust tail pipe?
3. Does water drip from the exhaust?
4. With HOT engine at high revs hold a white cloth over the end of the tail-pipe. What is deposited on the cloth?
5. Remove each spark plug. What colour is at each tip?

Coolant level
Check the coolant level in the radiator. If its not completely full then fill to the cap. Run the car for a few days and check again. When/if radiator is topped up note the level in the reservior and determine if the reservoir drops after a day or two.
Does the exhaust drip at start-up or whilst engine is hot?

mace it drips at start up seems ok when hot.and smokes a bit when hot blue/gray smoke.topped up the radiator tonite only took about half pint of water.didnt over heat atall and i was out in it for about 2 hours.still rattels like hell when i accelerate???

Keep a check on coolant level. Half pint is still a coolant loss. A coolant gap at the top of the rad could prevent coolant flow and hence the overheat.
Is the rad cap a good fit? Often they wear loose and coolant leaks/steams from the cap. Try adjusting/squashing the cap lugs or cut a new rubber seal for the cap [rubber inner tube is ideal] to make a very snug fit.
Blue smoke when hot is an oil burn. When did you last change the oil? What viscosity did you use?
No Engine heating meter!!
Hi, I got my new Trios yesterday and was surprised to find out that there is no engine heating meter!! How it could be?!!
There is only a warning light which lights on when engine is hot- i.e when it too late!!

i have been ofered a good running engine out of a g reg sportrak. mine is l reg.will it just pop straight in or will i have to do anything different.it has a carb where as mine is an injection if i just change the block can i still have it as an injection.
