HELP!I have a 1990 2.8 diesel. The four wheel drive will not engage. When I press in the knob on the dash the 4WD indicator doesn't illuminate. Any ideas?

could be vacume pipe that goes to solanoid on transfer box this might have fallen of or be leaking
and the vacume solaniod gets full of muck

I have the same problem on my fourtrak, the light won't illuminate, and if i put the 4L stick in gear and get underneith i can turn the front propshaft by hand, surely this should be locked in place when in gear, shouldn't it? any suggestions/help would be much appreciated. Thanks Sam

Look at all the rubber pipes going to gear, box make shure they are all connected and are not leaking, if they are all ok try the solanioed

no power to solenoin
I have no live going to the solenoin with the blue connector, if i knew how they worked i might stand a chance of solving or bypassing the system (do both solenoids receive a live when the 4x4 switch is pressed), replaced both solenoids and tried a donor 4x4 switch, the relays seem ok too, i know the transferse box is ok because i put a vacuum on it and had it in 4 wheel drive, its on a k plate, does anyone know if there are any other common faults with wiring or other units relating to this system etc
