offroad with 31" tyres

Forum:

hello there hope you've all enjoyed bringin in the new year and hope its a good one for us all!
Anyway. does anyone out there offroad there fourtrak with 31" tyres, if so what sort of lift does this require, as i went out with mine last week with 30" machos on and i was struggeling in the deep rutts, but they nearly ripped my arches off on the front when i got cross axled and tried to turn them. I realy need some 31's on, but would like to leave my front wings atached to my body when i do some offroad.
I'm running a f70 with rear springs on the front for a bit of lift, removed anti-roll bar and 30mm wheelspacers. Any idea's?

The wheel spacers will couse

The wheel spacers will couse the problem you have described. 31's will go on a standard car. Also the spacers tend to put a lot of unessesary strain on the wheel barings. The alternative of course is to lift the body off of the chassis, or to lift the suspencion. This can be done by lengthening the sppring hangers, lengthening the spring shacles, or doing a spring over axle conversion. All of these will also lift the cars centre of gravity (the body lift least of all), which could well nulify the effect of having the wheel spacers in the first place.

i was thinking shackle lift

i was thinking shackle lift to the same hight as the back and some longer shocks to stop the wheel riding so high up into the arch. would love to loose the wheel spacers but am stugeling to find some deaper dished rims, i'm already running on the deep daihatsu ones but could do with a couple more inches offset, because stabilety is so much better. is there any alturnatives?

You can bye wheels to prity

You can bye wheels to prity much any width/dish from the 4x4 mag/on-line type off roading stores. They tend to come in white/crome 8 spock and modular as the cheapest options.
The problem with lengthening shacles is that there is more side to side movment the longer the shackle gets. Also the more you lift the suspension the more strain you put on the uj's in the props. I would always sugest a body lift myself.
