Can I fit a Rocky/Fourtrak altenator to a Feroza/Sportrak? I would like to give my car a little extra boost this winter...
Got lots of drivinglamps on the roof and bullbar, will pull 4x100 watt plus 2x130 watt plus normal lamps, defogger, rear-defogger etc...
Will it work to fit a Rocky-altenator or do I need an other type?

Hi.
No you can't fit a 4trak aulternator, becouse of the vacum pump fitted to the rear of it. This has oil feeds going to and from it. If you just ignored this as you don't need it, it would sease, knackering the whole thing. You also can't just take it off, asa it contains the second baring for the whole asembly.
Your normal aulternatour should be man enough, as long as your not just doing loads of short jurnies with every gadget/light running. If you are woried, try wiring in an amp meter. As long as the needle stays in the posotive, seteling to just above zero soon after start up, you have nothing to worry about.
Other than that I'm afraid it's off to scrap city for you, to hunt for a higher capacity aulternator, that you think you can fabricat a bracket to fit your car for.
