Strange new problem with fuelling 2.8 tdx

Forum:

Hello again all. I find myself once again turning to you all for help with my f75 fourtrak 2.8tdx 1993.
For some reason out of the blue it has seemed to developed what i can only guess is a fueling issue. A good engineer friend had a quick look and noticed the little diesel filter housing pump thingy seemed to be very soft as though the lines were full of air and not diesel? He seemed to think the fuel was "running back" ???
What could this possibly be i have installed a new air filter /glow plugs and i have maintained the engine at regular intervals??
Any help i would much appreciate as i need to sort it . Life aint the same without my 4trak . Many thanks
Kevin Curtis

fuel filter

uve prob done this but have u ran the water out of the fuel filter lately, and changed the fuel filter.maybe a few more details of your exact problem might help the lads on here too, hope you get it fixed
bill

right some details sorry chaps

Basically until just a few days ago it would start spot on as soon as the glow plug light went out. Now it turns and turns for about 10-20 seconds before firing. It then seems to idle ok for approx 2 mins then simply cut out???
I have checked the fuel filter and bled the little screw of air/water on the top i even added an injector cleaner with a full tank of fuel.i changed the fuel filter housing today and it seems to have stopped stalling. However i feel a loss of power and it still takes as long to start. So as u see i am still at a loss hope someone can make some sense of it thanks all kev

Guaranteed you have not bled

Guaranteed you have not bled the fuel system completely. As soon as you pull the fuel filter off, or interfere with the fuel system in any way, air gets in, and causes idleing problems. Try this, get it running, and slightly undo the nut that holds the fuel line onto number 1 injector. You will get fuel leakage, and air bubbles. Retighten when the air bubbles stop.

fuel

have you checked the fuel line at the back just where the chassis bends up over the rear axle and just where the fuel line gose over the top of the tank steel fuel pipe rots here had a few that have done this it will be a very small hole if you cant cure it i would replace this pipe {with plastic }filter to tank you can just get your hands in with out removing tank

WE AL MAKE MISTAKES SAID THE DARLEK GETTING OFF THE DUSTBIN

u guys rock :)

I didnt loosen or bleed from the injectors perhaps that could be it nor have i checked the fuel line at the rear i will start on that first thing tommorrow thanks a lot guys if you need any tyres batteries or exhausts pop in and see me at kwik fit in trowbridge i will re pay the favours[managers special] All the best kev.
p.s i have started looking into buying several fourtraks in order to keep mine on the road and build a swb for the mud
i will be listing any spares on here so watch this space.

i think ive found it

Having followed the advice given to me by u guys i have discovered a possible leak in the above areas just under the fuel tank. This was backed up after i bled the diesel injectors as u said, it ran fine until i switched it off again evidence i think that it is the fuel line allowing the air back in ,
On the shopping list new fuel lines all round Smile thanks a bunch guys once again u led me in the right direction
All the best kev
p.s gonna get some photos to put on gallery in case someone else has a prob in future.

fueling problem?

Hi Kevin,
what is the actual problem? Was it running okay and just cut out? Lacking power? Running okay when you parked up but wouldn't start the following day? Does it start but not rev up?

a little more info would help,
