O/S outer C/V joint boot split,replacement info

Forum:

2.8 TDX independant 2001.Hello,new member, any info regarding replacing Os/outer cv joint boot would be appreciated seen info regarding N/S seems straightforward but o/s looks like hub strip to access is this correct?

Disjointed

No need to remove the hub or the hub nut, jack the vehicle up to gain access to the shaft, unbolt the inner end fron the drive flange, cut off the outer CV boot, clean it out and inside is a spring clip, this is difficult to spot unless it is clean. Remove the spring clip with two screwdrivers and pull the shaft out.
The spring clip is located in the outer housing of the shaft, run a screwdriver donw one of the three grooves to locate it, lever it inwards to remove it.

Replacement is a simple reversal.

O/S drive shaft outer c/v joint boot replacement.

Thanks for help/advice, but O/S drive shaft does not appear to have the six bolt flange to detach shaft that the N/S has, moving out from the axle case at the O/S there is just a green coloured tube to which the inner C/V boot is attached, this appears to house the inner C/v joint.I have not had a look under the inner boot to see if there is a means of shaft removal there, maybe thats the case?.looks like easiest way for O/S strip is to drop top/bottom ball joints out and remove spring clip from inner joint and lift shaft complete with hub away and replace boots that way. Thanks agin for advice, just wish it was the N/S one which had gone.
