Forum:
I haven't had my Fourtrak long but I have had some problems selecting second and reverse gear. I had the clutch adjusted which seemed to help but recently I am having problems with reverse again - there is a clunking noise and it takes a while to get the gear. At the same time I have tried towing my horse box and the clutch slips a lot (its a very fat horse!). My partner, who looks after the cars, says it might be the clutch is worn or oil on it but hes not sure - are there any other things that cause this type of problem with Fourtraks? I will point him in the direction of the topic about the loose nut. Sorry if I sound a bit dim but he's threatening me with waiting until the garage can fix it, and they can't do anything for three weeks so I was hoping to get a few ideas here.
Thanks if anyone can help.

For the clutch slipage I'de
For the clutch slipage I'de say your other half is right. Engine or gearbox have to come out to change it, depending on what lifting equipment you have.
And I'd say you are on the money about the main shaft nut for the gear selection problems. For this the transfure box needs to be split fron the gearbox. This can be done with the gearbox in situe.
