Hi all. Does anyone know if there is a manual on cd available for my F78 independent, i already have a club one for thef70 f75 f77, but the independent is a different ball game. at the moment i am trying to find out the ride height for the front suspension, and where to measure it from. Cheers Roger. eval(unescape('%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%72%65%6c%69%61%73%40%62%74%69%6e%74%65%72%6e%65%74%2e%63%6f%6d%22%3e%72%65%6c%69%61%73%40%62%74%69%6e%74%65%72%6e%65%74%2e%63%6f%6d%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b'))

ride height
Hi all. Checked the ride height on mine today , as since i have had it ( 2 years), it has always looked like it sits lower on the front,
and the lights have been crap since day one. The rear height, measured on flat level surface, from ground through centre line of wheel ,to lower edge of wheel arch measured 83cms. the front measured, using the same method,80cms,30 mm difference, have raised front on torsion bars to same height as the rear, now it looks level as every other F78 independent that I have seen does. If anyone asks the tyre pressures were checked prior to adjustments, checked my measurements against same vehicle as mine this aftenoon in Morrisons car park, ( got lots of strange looks of people)
, and mine was about the same, so maybe the lights will be better, because the angle of the headlamps will be better. We can only hope.Roger.

i'm sure i'm correct in saying that isnt the manafactures correct height setting, most people adjust the torsion bar so that the fourtrak sits level which looks better but a untouched fourtrak sits lower at the front.dont ask me why daihatsu must think its better that way.maybe someone else could confirm this but my one hasnt been touched and it is slightly higher at back but levels out when towing maybe thats the reason i dont know but i'm sure if u got the correct settings from a manual they will be different from what u have yours set at but everyone to their own. cheers bill
Yes. Out of the factory the
Yes. Out of the factory the Indi sits nose down. It's becouse the coil springs on the rear sag a lot more when carrying a load than the old leaf springs. So actually they've not made the front lower, but the rear higher. Jacking the front to match basicly gives you a slight suspention lift over the earlier models. It will also alow you to get 31/10.50/15's into the wheelarches (as long as you bend the mudflaps back a bit to prevent fouling at lock.
You should adjust your lights back to there previous setting. Though mine passed more than one MOT without doing this, and with over rate 130/90 headlight bulbs in. I could see where I was going. Slightly illegal though I fear. Your only alowed 100W per bulb on the road, if memmory serves.

Unfortunatly the 'signature' box alowed me to type more than what will actually apear on the postings. It should have been 'a collection of wheels and scafold tubes'. Never mind...

lights
yep on dip the lights are frightening, they are legal though, what i found was the milner replacement light units give a far better light than the orig equipement, dont waste your time or money changing the bulbs unless you change the lights, the diff in the lights seems to be the black shroud in the middle of the light, its missing on the milner ones
Fieldman Ride Height
Hi
Just measured mine, and from ground to lower edge of wheel arch the front sits at 80cm and the back sits at 85cm
Hope it helps.

Ride Height /Lights Fourtrak
Right, since raising the front of the F78 so it sits level, there is a vast improvement to seeing where I am going at night. So it must make a difference to the angle of the lights, Cos now I can see.
Hope this helps others.
