Forum:
Just took my Sportrak through it's MOT today, and all is fine except for one brake pipe needs replacing at the front nearside. Before I go to the parts place to get some bits, does anyone know the size of the brake pipe and brake unions used on these cars? - I presume they are metric, but what size?
(PS: Sportrak is forsale if anyone wants one, New MOT, 1997 ELXi, 81K miles,.. open to sensible offers.)

Simple; forget the thread size, remove the old pipe and reuse the old nuts, brake pipe is a standard 3/16" irrespective of vehicle. Cut the old pipe as close to the nut as you can, put a six point socket onto the nut to prevent rounding it off, spray with penetrating oil and remove.
Make up one end of the copper brake pipe and fit the old nuts, if the old pipe cannot be removed, drill it out with a 5mm drill, fit the old nuts and install on the vehicle. Once installed and bled, check for leaks, and then lather the entire exposed portion of the nut with grease.

Thanks
