Forum:

Hi all,
I'm new to fourtraks, but love the one I've bought recently, I've got a 1997 Fieldman and have been told that to put rear windows in the best thing is to replace the whole thing from another fourtrak.
I've just found a 1992 fourtrak for spares (£300)and what I want to know is:
1. Will the rear section fit on my 1997 model?
2. Will the rear wiper motor and arm fit on my 1997 model?
3. I presume the rear seats will fit, is this so?
Thanks to anyone that answers.
Cheers

Yes to 1 and 3. All the

Yes to 1 and 3. All the captive bolts should be in situ in the Fildman to take the rear seat, hiden under tape or Rubber / plastic inserts. With the exception posibly of the mounting point for the plate that the seat base lockes to when in the 'in use' position, to stop it folding forward when you break. The earlier traks had one locking point in the center of the rear of the seat base. While I think the later ones had a lock at each side. When I put an earlier rear seat into my indipendent Fieldman I just driled the rear floor pan, and put a thick plate on the other side to spread the load, then bolted the lock down. Never gave me any problems.

As for 2, you might have to swap the whole door, as the mounting of rear wipers changed from time to time. Basicly have a look, you may be lucky.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

Thanks

Thanks for the comments, very useful.

Field too 4seater

All Daihatsu's were manufactured as pick up's, they were designed to have all the variations bolted in, as Nev K quite rightly states, captive nuts.
Original Fourtraks were imported as pick up's and the dealers fitted them out as fieldmans (commercials) or fitted the tops, seats, and trim for fourtrak's as we know them. Later, due to their sales success in Europe, the factory manufactured them as Fourtrak's or Fieldmans and imported them that way.

Simply, everything is interchangeable, fittable, or removable; you can have a 4 seater, commercial, hard top, and soft top all in one vehicle.
