Hi can anyone help.

I am new to Daihatsu Owners club.I think I may have put this comment in the wrong forum TOPIC( FOURTRACK) so please forgive me.

I recently bought a 1998 1600cc auto 3 gear five door Grand Mover.

1/ On the car BADGE its called a Gran Move.Any idea what it is really called.

2/ I want to tow my caravan with it occasionally.I will check the weight of the caravan but think it is about 1000kg.

I understand car makers give recommendations and suggestions about towing. I have a driving licence long before the changes to the towing allowance came into force in 1997.

I have read several articles about this and it seems that these are merely recomendations,there are no hard and fast laws. Regardless of the car to van wieght ratio. if you tow anything that causes an accident or the police stop you and consider it dangerous, you could be prosecuted.

So I am trying to be safe and not get nicked.

so.. taking this on board..can anyone advise.

1/ Anyone got a tow bar or twin electrics they want to sell to fit it.Or anyone got the fixing or wiring diagram for the twin electrics.

2/Anyone had any experience towing with a a 1600 gran Move.What did you tow, how was it?,Any problems on long hills, overheating ect.

3/What is the kerb weight of this car?

4/What is the maximum suggested towing weight and train weight for the car. It seems the car weighs about 1000kg. Will it help if I add some weight ( sand bages etc) to the car.

5/I am considering fitting spring straps that limit the wheel movement and stop the wheel hitting the top of the wheel arch.Anyone got or ever used or fitted any of these/

6/I am considering changes the tyres to ones with better grip mand heavier walls,.Any suggestion on the best ones to fit.

7/ I have done quite a lot of towing before.I will fit an anti snake stabiliser.

Anyone ever fitted electric windows to one of these cars?
