Fourtrak 2" suspension lift for £260

Forum:

I've just ordered 4 upgrade shocks and bigger rear coils to give me a 2" lift and intend to adjust torsion bars to the max(£260 just needs fit). I know i can get away with 31x10.50 r15 on my standard tear drop alloys but i want to go as big and wide as humanly possible. i've found some 10x15 modulars on web to fit. can any of you 4b brainiacs help? can i get away with the 10x15's and how huge of a tyre could i use? almost forgot it's a r'reg 98 independant 2.8tdx. mainly road use no real heavy off road, i just live 10 miles past the middle of nowhere. it's my second rocky but first time posting on forum so i'm a bit numb but can't help my addiction to truck's with big wheels - i didn't have any tonkas when i was little!

careful now

I must admit trucks on big wheels look great, but, you do have to start being careful here, beyond a 31" tyre you must tell your insurance company, because this starts to really change the vehicles overall gearing, also you have to change your speedo. You can get now 38" tyres with a width of 12.5" which will happily sit on your 10" wide rims, most people use about a 35" tyre but even then youll need wheel spacers aswell, You will have to limit uphill travel so you get no fowling on wheel arches but to be honest you really have to think about surgery on the vehicles body work if you want really big, caution is needed, i would have thought if you look in the modification area of the forums you will find info on what you need, assassin, bundy, nevk etc they seem to be the people in the know. The bigger the tyre the slower the vehicle and what crap fuel economy is all i have to say, but boy do they look good, also like the old ahem!" land rovers " the skinnier the tyre the better you are at ploughing through mud as long as you have a high diameter tyre. Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

oops

Guess I should have really said as big as possible without doing any major mods, can't really justfiy the ££ on a body lift just now and im not really up to chopping lumps off (the battle axe might notice) 33 or 35x12.5 on 10x15's with spacers sounds the dogs if that won't cause to many problems? dont mind telling the insurance and i make it a rule never to look at the speedo! Cheers!
