Hi All
Been trying to wind up my front torsion bars for a bit more lift, but they are propper siezed I have soaked them in wd40 and Plus Gas periodicly for the last week, heated the nuts up with a blow torch and put as much pressure as I dare on them without shearing the bolts...
I should mention I did have the wheel jacked up off the ground so the wheel's were hanging down.
Are there any trade secrets or is it a case of cutting the bolt off and somehow fit some new threaded bar or replacement bolts?

Tight Nuts
Instead of heat try the opposite approach, using ice cubes on the bolt will contract it, the bolt will shrink and the nut should come free.
Should this not work, mark the centre of the bolt accurately, centre pop it, and drill the bolt out, this will weaken the bolt to the point where it will collapse when pressure is put on the nut. If it is a stud instead of a bolt then drill right into the stud and shear it off, tap a new thread into the hole and fit a new stud, use plenty of grease upon reassembly and cover with heat shrink tubing, this will keep dirt out and the grease in.
Cheers for the

Unfortunatly or fortunatly depending on how you look at it, I did it earlyer today. I figgured that I may aswel shear the bolt trying instead of cutting it either way it will have to be replaced. Lady luck was smiling today
with a pole extending my socket rachet on the bolt and a spanner wedged against the body on the nut, I gave it everything I had. With a loud crack the bolt gave and then I continued to wind it despite all the groaning and creeking.
Just out of interest... does anyone know what was the standard height from center of the hub to the wheel arch, I forgot to check in my haste. I now have a height of 19 inch's.
