Hi
I sold my Hijet some 4 months ago and the new owner rang to say that, looking at the dials, the lower right hand warning light flickered on today. He says it looked like an engine pully. I for the life of me can't remember the layout of the warning lights on the van which is a 2000 1.3efi with about 63k on the clock. Can anyone let me know what the light is warning of. He says the van isn't overheating, has no oil pressure light glowing and is running well although he mentioned that the fan belt was squeeling last week. Battery light is not on. Could this be the brake fluid or brake pad warning light?
Many thanks

After four months? Thats a bit of a nerve. I you didn't give, or imply some kind of warranty I'd be telling him to call someone who cares. And giving him the 5p...
Who knows what's happened to it during that time.

Thats a bit harsh Dave H, the guys only asking what it is, not to fix it. }:)
Who better to ask than the previous owner enthusiast?
Regards the dash symbol, what colour is it and a more detailed description will help. A pulley gets me thinking of the alternator or power steering pump, but they dont have P/S do they???

Hi
Yes it's actually nearer 6 months.
I am going to see for myself tomorrow but I am certain it is the warning for the disk pads. I thought of the alternator belt but that would set the battery /ign light to red. No they don't have Power steering.
The light colour could be orange or white I can't get much idea from the bloke. Either way it is down to him as you say although I normally fix it, I'm a mug I know.
I sold him another van 4 years ago and had him on my case for the first 2 years so I expect he thinks he is entiteled in some way for the same sort of service. I wish I could get a 2year labour warranty on a second hand motor.
I'll let you all know once I've seen the offending light, which I also understand is intermittent which makes me really suspect the pads.

UPDATE
Iv'e now seen the van and it it the orange diagnostic light (Pully??) which now appears to have come on as he pulled away for les than a blink and hasn't been on since. I suspect that it may be a sensor playing up or that he nearly stalled. It is one of those oddities like my wifes oil light previously lamented about but I've told him if it stays on then take it for a diagnostic test. Problem is we live in France where Daihatsu dealers are like hens teeth although I am pretty sure the local dealer will have a go.
Can anyone recommend a Service Manual disk off ebay that shows the diagnostic on the 1.3EFI. There are two on there one at £3.99 the other at £7.99. I know a lot of you "Hijetters" have been after one and can you recommend the best please
Cheers and thanks for all the comments, the chaps wife did apologise and he's a friend which reminds me of the old quote "never sell to family or friends"..

I bought the £7.99 manual,
I bought the £7.99 manual, as this was the one for the 1.3 model. I'll see how big it is, maybe I can email in to you in sections. If not it'll have to be the post. You'd probably get a better reponse in the commercial section, I thought that was pretty much where all the Hijet posts went.
