Forum:
Last night dash lights, rear side lights and front side lights stopped working. Head lights, brake lights, reversing light and fog light are not affected. Have checked fuses and could find no problems.
Has anyone had any similar problems? Any advice gratefully received!!

Can't see you coming.
Check the light switch, on some models the switches were not as good as other models, had this on a couple of other peoples Fourtrak's, one only a fortnight ago.
Check the power supply to the switch at the connector plug located on the steering column, using a multi meter, operate the switch to the sidelight position, and check all outgoing wires until a reading is found. Turn the switch off to ensure it is the correct wire. Trace this wire to the fusebox and take readings again, at the rear of the fusebox there will be a connector to split the wire to each light, cannot be specific as this is model dependant, from here trace the wiring to each light.
Other thoughts are check the earth connection to the circuit, place a temporary earth wire to one light unit, from the battery negative terminal if they light up it is an earth fault. Simply replace the temporary earth wire with a permanent one.

Not sure what model your talking about, but i had this once on my f70 when the hazard burnt out one night, what happened was so much dirt and dust over time had built up in the stalk switches on the steering column i damn near had a fire cos i had the hazards on but i wasnt in the motor (someone had an accident so i stopped to help) i had to replace the whole unit with a second hand but it was easy enough cos i got a spares vehicle (there to cheap not to have one kickin about):D
Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

i had the same
check under the rear, where the wires go to your bumper rear light. the wires dropped and melted onto the exhaust. i was lucky as my local auto electician had seen it before. saved me taking the dash apart
