Longer Dampers

Forum:

Hi boys and girls, new to site but not to fourtraks, got a wicked f70, done loads of odd mods, can help some people with various questions if they need it.Any way im doing another bit of lift with longer shackles, piece of piddle, but can anyone help with ideas on getting longer dampers as the suspension will not max out because of these. I have looked at es3000 procomps with plus 3" but are a bit expensive and money tight, anyone with ideas would love to hear from you cheers!!:?

Shocked

Scorpion Racing do a range of extended shockers, these are De Carbon, and are available as single tube, twin tube, and a range of gas shockers.

Be careful with suspension mods, as it can go horribly wrong? seen too many injuries off road due to incorrect suspension set-ups.
Once lifted a Fourtrak 14" to prove it could be done, safely; great rock crawler, and superb for maintenance as you could sit up under it. Cost an absolute fortune to execute, and around three months of complex calculations to get the system anywhere near right.
On road driving was a pig.

longer dampers

Hi there, I have just completed a budget lift on a 91 F70. We added 65 mm to the shackles all round and replaced the standard shocks with standard Toyota Hilux items. They bolt streight in. Also we rebuilt the front spring packs using the Dihatsu top 2 leaves and the 3rd and 4th leaves out of front Hilux packs. You will need to trim the rear of the Hilux leaves to clear the tie straps on the original leaves. Hope this helps

longer shocks

hi procomp es 3000 shocks work well on my f70 intrested in what mods you have done cheers

Hi Robert

Yep i will probably go with es3000 's in the end, what xtra length did yo go for cos ive been working it out i need about +4 cos of me springs, need some longer brake hoses to but just havnt had a lot of time to sort it, doing a two inch lift tommorrow with dogsboss's shackles they look good, hes also made some crackin rock sliders but i made mine from some freelander ones that i brought nearly new for £40 and obviously cut them strengthened them to fit etc. Also made a half inch thick steel rear bumper, partly cos the old one was poo and rusty, but added shackles to it etc when i made it - very handy, made plate to bolt onto front crossmembers to fit winch, then just lights and things that i need at work etc, i couldnt easily find a place for the high lift jack cos didnt want to add more weight to rear door on old hinges so made a good bolt system on the bull bar at the top, works very well - all passes mot ever since no prob.

Full of ideas but no time to do them!!
