Forum:
well my Fourtrack is still a Twotrack, as i cant get 4wd,,,
if some of u guys see if u could work this out or give me any ideas itd be very helpful....here goes.
with truck in the air on 4 axlestands
the hubs are locked, and not unlocking
the front propshaft is turning
the front wheels are jerking, and there is a loud whine comming from the diff somewhere
if u hold the front wheel u can feel a vibration commin thru it and is some resistance if u try and turn it backwards but the wheels dont spin, they either dont move or jerk, or move very slowly
if i have the hubs off, both the driveshafts are turning.
so i guess they turn when theres no resistance, but as soon as some resistance, not a lot happens,
now i dont know what is happening and i have tried to explain as best i can, and probably confused u all, but any help would be greatly appreciated.....
cheers guys

Sounds like the FWH are not
Sounds like the FWH are not engaging. Could just need taking apart, and a good clean up / lubrication. Thgey are the usual suspect. But especially as you are saying the half shafts are turning.
Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.
yeah thats what i dont
yeah thats what i dont understand, the half shafts are turning, the hubs are locking and un locking, and i know its not that.. if all 4 wheels are off the ground they should all spin shouldnt they?
would i have an LSD on the front??
Check the front propshaft
Check the front propshaft again, make sure that both ends are turning even when the wheels arn't. They are prone to stripping the splines inside the slider so it will turn the halfshafts as there is little resistance but with the weight and centrifuge of the wheels it may cause the shaft to slip. you will see the transfer end turning but the diff end won't be. Just a thought as I've had this happen to me on two vehicles up to now.
Cheers.
Dave.
Check the frount propshaft
I put a new propshaft on my f70 the splines were nealy gone
with a lift in suspension its onley working on half its splines
fitted new FWH they seemed to engage but dodnot full of gunge and brocken springs. I think if you had problems with your transfer box or frount dif you would know about it a big bang. just a tip check your lubes in your frount axel my diff had some green jeely in it. swivel casing was dry.
fitted new cv joints swevel bearings and seals use cv grease to lube thease now. anyone any coment on using grease to lube cv joints
