Fourtrak front brake pads

Forum:

Hi everyone new user to this site. I own a F78 and I have really bad front brake pad rattling, I have ordered a new set of shims and clips from Daihatsu (the only place I could source them) do you think the fitting of these parts will stop the rattle, or has anyone else had other problems with this type of symptom? O and one other thing where can I get a workshop manual for this model? looked everywhere.

Might not be brake pads.

My F73 rattles on the front wheels. It's the internals of the manual locking hubs clattering.

I know, cos the rattle started after I fitted the hubs.

SHIMS

I think the sims will stop the rattle if it is coming from the Pads. The shims often break up with age and dissappear. Take carewhenclippingthem in as they aresprung steel and therfore brittle.

As for a Manual, paper ones are hard to come by and you are looking at a DAIHATSU full Workshop Manual from Daihatsu at a huge price. I certain that Haynes and the like have never produced one but you can get a CD from ebay for the Sportrak and perhaps the Fourtrak as well. The CD I got of the Sportrak wasa direct copy of the paper version I obtained for £80 in 1994 from a Japanesse importer which I foundin one of the 4x4 magazines. I'm sure the price would be a lot more now and the CD's are usually between £2.99 and £4.99.

Thanks everyone, fitted the

Thanks everyone, fitted the clips today problem solved. I think its a real shame that Daihatsu stopped producing a 4x4 of this type, they are a real work horse. The new one seems a little tame compared to the fourtrak although I'm sure it's good at what it is built for.
