4 weel drive

Forum:

when i was pulling a3 tonne diggerup asteep gravel hill in low 4wheel drive it was struggling my wife got outann said only one wheel at the front and one at back were spinning is this normal or should allthe wheels spin at the same time

The drive train on a 4 wheel

The drive train on a 4 wheel drive ever only work in a diagonal sequance, hence one wheel spinnng at the front and one at the back on the oppersite side. This is normal. The only time all 4 wheels will or can spin is if you have diff locks, which dont usually come as standard. The term 4 wheel drive does NOT mean all 4 wheels drive, it means all 4 wheels CAN drive but not all at sametime. Your problem is normal.

Some left foot breaking can

Some left foot breaking can help. This helps to slow the spin of the two wheels, forcing drive to the other two. A very crude traction control. You will need the revs up to prevent stalling.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.
