Hi, ive been reading on here before i bought my sportrak and since but have just registered. Took my 1997 EFI Sportrak for its MOT a couple of weeks ago and it failed on C0 and a suspension bush. Fixed the bush, put a new lambda sensor in which i was advised to do but its made no difference to the C0.
I normally do most of my car work myself but dont know what else it could be.
The only other thing ive noticed is theres a rattle coming from where the cat is which id just assumed would be a heat shield rattling as thats what it sounds like.
The MOT tester told me the C0 should be approx -0.5% but its actually 13% which is miles out.
Its also had an engine change which makes me think it could have been re assembled wrong. Any ideas or info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Bri.

re-emmision problems
hi ,is the cat ok ,the cats can disintegrate inside, any lack of power ,or a throaty engine noise when you put the hammer down .

Hi Vince, firstly thanks for
Hi Vince, firstly thanks for the reply.
This is my first sportrak and ive not had it long so i have nothing to compare it to. I found the C0 failure sheet and C0 is meant to be 0.15% but is actually 13.8% which the tester says is a mile high.
It does sound fairly throaty and like i say theres a horrible tinny rattle coming from around the cat but id assumed it was a heat shield. il get under tomorrow and have a look.
Other than that the mot guy said it could be any one of the pipes around the inlet but he didnt know where to start. i also cant seem to find a manual for the sportrak.
Thanks again, Bri.
Manual.
Mouser ... you will not obtain a Haynes or other manual for your sporty. The only manual is the official daihatsu version which has been copied to CD. Several member have a copy [its the full version with engine sections etc] and mine proves invaluable. If you are offered a copy check which version it is before you arrange a copy ... I will take care not to say buy since the CD is daihatsu copywrite.
