I have just relaced the jungle of pipes on both my Sportys with the 57i kit from K&N. Looks neater and goes better.
I used one from a Metro GTI and one from a late Mini. Both fit and make the engine rev freer and sound great. I'm certain they improve performance by allowing denser cold air to flow with less restriction than the normal ironmongery.

I put the recommended K&N R-1380 on my sportrak, and I do feel the difference and it's easier to work on the engine now the big lump of air filter has been removed.
You any more mods for the engine?

Running on 235/75 R15 tyres.
K&N's are great, they work
K&N's are great, they work even better with some of that cold air hose from Halfords. You just need to cut away some metal bottom right of the rad then you can cable tie it in place.
Just be wary of deep river crossings so not to drown the air intake.
Go the whole hog and de-cat it too, you won't look back!
