I am a fairly new member to this site, so please forgive me if I am asking to much.
Does anybody know of, Or has done a conversion from leaf springs to coil springs on a '88' fourtrak (F75).
I regulary use mine for offroading and would like to know if it's at all possible?
Thanks

as far as i was aware leaf springs are better for offroading are they not? not certain why, but they are also easier to tinker with!
sounds like a ball ache of a job, wouldnt it be easier and possibly more cost effective to buy an indy?

If your going to all the trouble of fitting up radios arms and stay bars to hold your axle in place, you could try going for a 3/4 eliptic leaf spring. Capable of more travel than a coil spring that isn't sticking right up out of the bonnet.
Not sure what it would handle like on the road though. It works like this. Where your normal 1/2 ecliptic leaf joins to the a shackle and then to the chassis, you join the other end of the shakle to a 1/4 eliptic (cut off) spring. This then goes back to the chassis directly above the axle.
Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.
