Sirion front door trim removal

Forum:

Hello all,
I've taken the plunge & joined after many a time popping in to admire the expert advice given out by members - and can I offer my humble thanks in advance!

I have a 2005 Sirion 1.3 auto (old shape, so think it's one of the last). I bought this when circumstances deemed we needed to go down to one car, so a yellow 1999 1.0 auto went, along with a 1999 auto PT Cruiser - this gave me a grand total of £1000 to spend, and having been very pleased with the yellow peril for 10 years, I upgraded to the F-speed.

All very interesting you say (not!), but what is the problem? Well....despite it having a mere 18,000 on the clock, it has been plagued with a stereo which only plays out of the drivers front speaker most of the time. Very occasionally the left front will tease us with glorious stereo, but only to bog off again next time we get in. I have managed to remove the central cluster and push prod and fiddle with all connectors, but nothing makes a difference, so am now thinking it may be a loose connection in the door. I have pulled it away around the lower sided and bottom, but my bravery desserts me when I meet resistance around the top, without knowing what lies beneath!
I did take the screw out of the release handle, but seeing a funny little spring clip arrangement, put it back again smartish.

Any advice most welcome - there used to be blokes who specialised in ICE a few years ago, but not anymore it seems, unless I want to trust it to a Halfords teenager (which I don't).

Cheers

Sounds like a problem I had

Sounds like a problem I had on my Subaru front speakers. Which was an easy fix, as the last owner had updated the speakers and cut corners by just twisting the speaker wire around the connectors which wriggled around and lost connection. Hopefully you will find something as easy as that. As Bob says the door trims are easy, just watch the clips. I bought and used a trim removal tool from halfrauds which I used to pry the bottom clips from the bottom of the door. There are 3 access holes on the bottom to get the tool into. Start from the bottom and prize off going up the door card. But watch out for door clips flying off.

Building up to it....

Thanks for that step by step guide BobF, and your input too jpor - you boys are certainly on it,
I was hoping for at least a few days wait for a reply, so that I could put it off a bit longer Wink

No excuse now I suppose... will definitely update with progress, (or more likely to ask how to get the door working again!)

Just got to walk the dog.....coffee.....etc. etc.:-)
