Forum:
There is a very nice looking YRV Turbo for sale on Autotrader.
The advert claims the Turbo is Group 8, which sounds a bit low to me as I always assumed my YRV Premium was Group 7, info from I don't remember where. My last year's insurance, in May, cost about £220.
What would I have paid last year (this year's insurance is unknown but will be much higher and I want to compare apples with apples) for YRV Turbo insurance? Any ideas?

Group 8 is correct
Hi Tony,
The YRV Turbo is a group 8 insurance. I paid £380 (With Admiral with mods declared) last year fully comp. on my turbo. I beleive the Sirion Rally 2/4 is a group 9?
This year I maybe insuring with Keith Michaels (need to speak with Gary Moulson and not do it via the website/standard numbr) as he is very competitive and they specialise in Mods. Currently have my Subaru insured with them for £500 (Group 20a).
I take it the meet up has inspired you in buying a turbo now then?
Jon.

£380 seems like a very good price for a teenager Jon. I'll now go to the tedium of putting the Turbo into my confused.com profile and seeing what it comes up with.
Yes, I've always been interested in the Turbo, but it wouldn't become my hobby like it is with you enthusiasts. I would want a standard car in at least as good condition as my Premium and the only mods I would make would be to improve anything I found I didn't like about it. As I've never driven one I don't know what those things might be.
With the Premium the truly awful rear suspension was the thing I fixed first, then adding noise reduction materials, then a proper rear parcel shelf, then the rear headrests, with unsuccessful efforts over the years to improve the headlights.
I vote for you and Dave to pop over the Pennines and give the car I spotted the once over. It looks like a bargain.

YRV Turbo insurance
Via confused.com, cheapest insurance quote, £284 and from my existing insurer, £308. Far less expensive than I thought.
Jon and Dave, definitely get over the Pennines and check that car out for me!

Umm its got a few miles more
Umm its got a few miles more than most ive seen for sale. Think its best like Jon says and buy a little nearer home and maybe pay a bit more too for the right one.
My insurance was £580 this year.....all due to the OL postcode. What a shit hole this town has become and the good pay the price.
