Hi, i am planning on using a 2.8 motor for a project 4x4 i'm making and wondered what the difference between the motors is? i have already bought a complete 'trak with a DL50 in it but wondered if there will be much gain selling it and getting a newer variant? i have spotted mine hasnt got an intercooler fitted although i will rectify this when it is fitted in the new vehicle anyway,

There is very little diffrence. Personally I prefure the earlier engine, as it doesn't have a timing belt.
Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

The only real differences are the turbo and fuelling settings to ensure the engine met emissions standards.
