yrv engine hesitation

I have a 2001 yrv the car has developed a problem. when i fully open the throttle the engine struggles to increase revs and falters until i back off the throttle.it seems to be either lacking enough fuel or enough air to get combustion going. the engine runs fine at tick over and at partial throttle. would be grateful of suggested remedies or course of action.

How does the car idle at standstill?

The only thing I can think of is it maybe a clogged fuel filter.Or maybe the sparplugs need changing/ re-gapping.

When was it last serviced?

does it perform in a way, where the GEAR keeps going from 3 -> 4 and back to 3 again. it keeps on going between the 2 gears until you raise the accelerator pedal by abit?
