Central Locking

Firstly sorry if this has been covered in a topic earlier but I could not see it.
The c/l on my Sportrak has stopped working however I notice that the passenger lock moves a wee bit but does not come fully off. I have checked all the parts within the door ect but I assume, can be dangerous Eye-wink, that there must be a solenoid to control it.
If so where is it or has my assumption been wrong? And what else should I look for?
Thanks for the help in advance.Smiling

Christopher.

Central Locking

Central locking is not controlled by a solonoid, it is in fact a small electric motor connected to a rack, the motor is fitted with a pinion to drive the rack.
If power is present it is usually the motor which goes, i usually replace it with a model motor, these come in standard sizes and can be obtained cheaply from model shops.
Occasionally; the pinion or rack gets debris in it, it is simply a case of cleaning and giving it a light coating of grease.
