Changing Sportrak Steering Wheel

Hi - can anyone tell me if the steering wheel on a Sportrak can be changed for a smaller one and if so does it have to be a specific sort. Thanks

New Steering wheel

Yes they can. I have a MOMO wooden one on one and an unamed Italian on the other which is identical. As long as the supplier of the wheel has a boss to fit you can put whatever you like on it. The MOMO wooden is quite a lot smaller, thicker rimmed to ease driving fatige on the hands, is warm, looks the business and has a Daihatsu badged centre horn push. One of my best investments !!

The italian oine I got in England some twelve years ago and 100K miles back. It cost £250 & the boss which I think was £27. The MOMO I got from ebay and then sourced a boss from ebay, which was more luck than anything else. The total came to about £75 and they both still look new.

You may find Mountney or Mota Lita do the boss kits as well and of course they do the wheels in all shapes and sizes. I suspect Mountney will be the cheapest and their Leather wheels are good whilst their wooden ones are not so good. Mota-lita do both and are at the top end of the price range. The wodden wheels are more suited to the classic cars like TR4's and MGB's as the rims are quite thin and not as comfy at the fatter leather or in my case the fatter MOMO wooden wheels.
