any fan belts from other makes fit a hijet?

hijet 998cc van.
cant for the life of me find anywhere local that sells hijet fanbelts.
do any other car belts fit a hijet,eg:ford escort,hillman imp etc etc.
while im at it any other alternators fit easily,mine seems to struggle a good bit with everything on.

Bits

Take them to your local motor shop. Its amazing just how they find needed bits match from other motors. Recently got a top hose section cut from an old 'extinct' ford .... perfect match and only 50p. These shops keep old stock in cardboard boxes!

Hilman Imp ..... once took the engine out with the aid of a wheel barrow. Stopped production because it was sold cheaper than manufacturing cost. Super car !

Get friendly with a local

Get friendly with a local independent motorist's shop.

They'll either order you a Hijet one direct, or take the old one along and try and match it with whatever they have on the shelves. As for the alternator, try an auto-electrician - they'll be able to match one with a higher output.
