Gearbox Drain Plug

Hi. I was looking to change the gearbox and transfer box oil soon and read a few topics on this forum. They seem to sugest that the drain plug is on the drivers side of the box. All i can find on mine is one on the bottom of the box, and cant find anywhere to fill it again. Also i cant find anysort of drain or filler for the transfer box?

I AM NOT SURE WHAT VEHICLE YOU ARE REFERRING TO BUT IF IT IS THE SPORTRAK THEN THE 24MM PLUG HALF WAY UP THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE BOX IS THE FILLER AND LEVEL PLUG. THE DRAIN PLUG IS AT THE BOTTOM AND IS ANOTHER 24MM PLUG.

The above post is correct,re placement of drain and filler plugs. A good purchase is the service manual available as a CD, click on service manuals on the top of the page. A bargain price , for the info it contains, take the time to browse it.

The filler plug for the

The filler plug for the transfer case is on the forward face, RHS of the case, very close to the crossmember. All these plugs are 24mm. The one you dont want to remove, as stated above, is the one on the left hand side of the gearbox. It SHOULD have an aluminium locking tab on it.

filler plug

warning-do not remove the filler plug on the passenger side of the box on a fourtrak or you will loose reverse gear.the filler plug is on the drivers side and the drain is at the bottom
