If its a
If its a Rocky/Fourtrak/Rugger then yes. Look for the cast iron spacer, about 4 inches long, between the two. Leave this bolted to the transfer case when you pull it out. Warning, transfer case weighs about 35kg, if memory serves correct, so dont have it up on a hoist or be under it in an awkward position and expect to balance it on one hand while undoing bolts. It aint gonna happen.

I read these comments as I require to do some work myself. Transfer box shift lever jammed in 4L so will attempt to take it off without dropping complete gearbox out. Appreciate this thread and replies, many thanks. Jimmy
Idiots guide to transfer box removal
Hi
It may be simple to those who know how but can someone tell me in an idiot guide form hw to remove the transfer box without the complete gearbox. i.e. do you have to take casings apart first and circlips or nuts off inside it or is it as simple as the outer bolts. I was hoping to start work on it first thing in the morning but I run out of patience si it might end up with the whole thing coming out again if I have to try and work it out. Simple solution would be appreciated. Many thanks. Jimmy
