Converting Van

Hi there, im also thinking about buying a hijet van this week and doing something similar. i would like to know how to put a bench that folds into a bed? Also, if anyone has any ideas on how to add a small cooker etc, i need to do it as cheaply as possible, it would mainly be used for short weekends away! my email is

hijet conversion

hello there,

its funny you should make this post actually! im just about to go on holiday but when i get back the hijet conversion will begin! not so much as a camper though! the first job is a respray (in a rather fetching ferrari red - the reason for this being that i tried putting a k&n induction kit for a polo gti(fits perfectly) on my hijet and it sounds exactly like a ferrari - well nearly anyway!) you've gotta hear it to believe it! anyway i digress. i want to convert the rear to a sideways bench seat which folds out to a bed. i've got a rough idea how i might do it but i wondered if you could offer any assistance? i do a lot of mountain biking and i need space for a bike when driving but a bed so i dont have to drive home afterwards! i can email you a rough sketch so you know what i mean if you like?

cheers

ok no worrys just send me ur

ok no worrys just send me ur email address and i'll pm you the designs you will need,
must say there could be afew so hard to deside on,
k&n induction kit are the way to go, i tell alot of ppl who come around from the forum there should install them on there hijets, you notice a difference straight away, also you can buy the max power k&n filter which cost between £20-15quid and there also fit perfect, havent check all universal k&n filter yet but most should fit right as long as there come with extra brakets....
moutaining a bike rack is the best solution it can fit on the back of the hijet and wont give you any problems you will still be able to see out of the back windows while driving also it can be mounted onto ur roof, and of course put inside if you like, halfords have a sale on bike racks now, but if i were you i'll wait for lidl, aldi or netto to get them in, there be much cheaper or you could try going down to ur local market to buy some, i get all my roof racks from there, just been given a roof rack the other day which is for holding canoes on the roof and surf boards.....

hi jet mods

hi seem to know your stuff on hijets looking for alloys to fit my 1995 993cc 3 cyl at moment on 12,s 110 pcd but do not no any think else , also will the induction kit fit mine trying to pimp her a bit she used for camping and festivals. thanks mark

yes the induction kit fill

yes the induction kit fill fit fine, most universal will fit with out a problem, argos have some on sale now....
about the alloys multi spoke alloys tend to fit but you will need to get stud extenders, unless you only want to put 12"/13" alloys on then no worrys there will fit fine,
any bigger then the studs wont fit, there are lots of alloys out there that will fit on a hijet,
best bet you go for some smaller alloys and nothing too big so you dont get ur self into trouble trying to sort the studs out.....

Who exactly sells alloys for a Hi-Jet?

Harvey, nobody I've spoken to sells alloys that fit a Hi-Jet. Every shop and website is telling me that they can't get a 110 PCD or a 5" wheel width. Every wheel is 6" width. Don't wanna fail MOT, just want a simple 12" or 13" No messin' with stud extenders or fenders Sad

Everyone's talkin' about it on here, but nobody's givin' any specifics.

The closest I've come to is the KN 'Minotaur' wheel that you see on the old classic Mini sold by Tyresave.co.uk Apparently they fit. Smiling

Could you send me the names of a couple of individual retailers who would stock them? Puzzled Help

There's obviously plenty of demand on here and if we can secure a good supplier, maybe we can negotiate a discount?

Thanks,
