Gilly's leave over axel conversion

Hijet engine swap

Can anyone help me with the following.
I am considering purchasing a Hijet pickup. 1.2 diesel. (R reg). The engine is goosed and I noted someone suggesting an engine swap for a petrol unit to be a feesable option. Would I need to change the rear axle as well and does anyone know what the gearing ratio is on the diesel rear axle?
Any other hints would be very helpful.
Many thanks

DIESEL TO PETROL HIJET

I wouldn't have thought there was much, if any difference on the rear axle ratio's, why should there be? Perhaps someone can tell me as well. The only difference I can think of is the revs on the Diesel flywheel may be slower and call for a different ratio to maintain road speed, that is all i can think. Perhaps you should fit it and see what happens. It's not abg jobto change it after and could save you that ask if i it OK. I stand corrected if proved incorrect by someone who knows different.
