Charade Timing Belt

Hi all,
Just about to collect an 1997 1.5 Charade with 48.000mls on clock. If the timing belt hasn't been changed is it o.k to leave till next year or have it done now as a matter of urgency? i'm very nervous about timing belts snapping!
