F70 Tyres

Forum:

I want to fit 31/10.50/15 tyres on 15 X 7" wheels to my F70. Will I need any mods to do this or will they fit without any problems?

The answer as to whether they

The answer as to whether they will touch anythng largely depends on what offset the rims are. But, very probably they will. It will probably be leaf springs, if your model has them.

Now i have a set of 31" with large lugs. i needed to adjust how much the wheels turn 'cause the lugs scraped springs quite a lot. now the problem is the turning radius in the parking lot Wink i would put 31x9,5x15 now instead of 10,5.. but after 215 r 15 the tyres feel great and i don't mind the turning problem.. and with only few days behind have to say that Insa turbo sahara is moneys worth.. being re-tread and all.. with less aggressive pattern the turningradius would be better

wheel sizes

does 17" rims fit on a 1992 charade 1.3 5 door? and will a 1.1 turbo fit on a 1.3?

Just wait for a couple of wee

Just wait for a couple of weeks and i'll be able to tell what happens. i have a F70, it had really worn leaf springs so i added coil springs into every corner.. you definately must adjust how much the wheels can turn, and if the leaf springs are dead you might need more clearance between axl and body. i'm getting 31" macho or mt tyres so.. keep your fingers crossed

I really don't know why rubin

I really don't know why rubing worries people so much. It'll only rub at full lock, and you only do that at slow speeds (parking or off road normally). All that'll happen is you'll get some interesting thuding sounds if your tyres have larg enugh lugs, and you'll end up with a couple of shiny patches on your chassis/springs. Not the end of the world. At the end of the day, a fourtrack doesn't have the best turning circle in the world. At least if the tyres are hitting the chassis, your getting the tightest turn you can. I've had 31's on 7 and 8" rims, under an F80 for several years without any modification to suspention, body work or stearing stoppers. I also had them under an F78. The only thing I did to her was wind the front suspention up so she stood level (instead of the factory spec nose down). This stopped the tyres fouling the mud flaps at full lock. Not so much rubbing as ripping off. Even at standard hight there was no danger of the tyres hiting the wheel arch it self.
