Engine Transplant

Forum:

Dear All,

Does any one have any experience of putting a Ford Cologne V6 in a Diesel F50? I am not sure what to do about the bell housing and clutch. I did a similar conversion with a Series 1 Land rover a few years ago, but adapter plates are available for the bell housing. Not sure if it is really worth doing but my friend has a complete ford engine and gear box and it seems a waste not to have some fun.

Regards
Rob

Is the Bell housing on the V6

Is the Bell housing on the V6 Alli, or Steel? Make your own bell housing. It's been done to fit Rover V8's into them. The F50 bell housing is Alli. The F20 (same gearbox (1600 petrol version of the F50)) has a steel bell housing.
Use which ever bell housing is the same material as the V6 housing. Make a bell housing by welding the front of the V6 housing to the back of the F?? housing, making sure the finished product is the right length to marry the two together.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

Thanks for the info. The Ford

Thanks for the info. The Ford bell housing is Ali. I am going to leave this for a summer project when the weather gets better.

Thanks
