The Little Red Pickle (Daihatsu 2001 YRV 1.3l TURBO) 1-DAY REFURB

Forum:

Hello,

I think I may have got lucky. I bought a Daihatsu 2001 YRV 1.3L TURBO yesterday for what I thought was a reasonable amount of money, but it had a lot of apparent problems:

1) The car brakes squeaked a LOT
2) The car air conditioner did not work - blowing hot air
3) There was a broken knob on the console (the air flow selector)
4) There was a bad noise in the left front corner when we hit a bump

The good news is that all of the repairs that I felt were desperately needed (air con, brakes, suspension) were accomplished this afternoon at two different garages. So now it's watch and see time...over the next couple of weeks, we'll all know if all of our efforts today turned out OK.

To help document the experience for later, I decided to start a blog about the REFURB experience for a car I've decided to call The Little Red Pickle because I have not yet decided whether it is a lemon or a plum Smile

The blog is now up on blogspot:

I hope everyone enjoys seeing this little car take shape over the next little while as much as I will enjoy with the REFURB of it, step by step!

Updated BLOG With Photos

Hello,

I've updated the Little Red Pickle Blog with a lot of photos and videos that I've taken while bringing the car up to 100%.

Mechanically speaking, the car is now perfect. The next thing to do is to have the interior detailed and the exterior buffed (to get rid of that chalky look that afflicts red painted cars) and clear-coated or waxed.
