Poor MPG Sirion 1.0 2007

Forum:

Dear All

I am new to the site having just purchased my 2007 Sirion 1.0SE with about 20,0000 miles on the clock , I really like the car but driving in town after a long drive to collect it ( I achieved about 49mpg on the long drive), it has just returned an mpg just under 27. You do feel slight vibration on idle but I presumed it was a characteristic of the 3 cylinder engine?. I also have been using the air con and my driving style is on the brisk side. I have also noticed that the coolant engine light stays on for a few minutes when running from cold and then goes off (is this normal)?
What could be causing such a bad mpg?

Faulty temperature sensor?
Faulty Map sensor?

Your help would be much appreciated! thanks

When was it last serviced?

When was the car last serviced? Have you checked the obvious such as air filter not clogged up? Spark Plugs not fowled up because of short journeys.
Have had MPG issues with my Impreza. Only to find that my brake caliper was catching and causing friction. Thus car was only giving off 36MPG instead of 44MPG as an example. worth checking these thing first.
