Forum:
So i have had my sporty for a while now and over the last month she started to get a little hot yet never over heat.
So to find out what was causing this i went on a hunt..... Thermostat had been taken out by previous owner giving me an idea that this is not the first time it has happened.
So i put new thermostat on along with a new water pump and cam belt..
STILL THE SAME PROMBLEM...
So now i have removed the cylinder head, had it pressure tested (all fine) then skimmed and tappets re adjusted, new headset later and all back together.
STILL GETTING HOT!!!
today i started her up and let the radiator cap off... when i revved the the it would throw coolant out the top, plus after a drive i can hear the smaller return pipe from inlet manifold area bubbling up!
Do i have a blockage? the radiator looks like its had better days but hold coolant and seems to flow ok when i checked by sticking a hose through it!
ANY IDEAS?
I'm now stuck
Many thanks
Long reach thermostat.
Thermostat. You must use a long reach thermostat. If you used a short 'normal type' thermostat, it fails to open. The long reach does exactly what it says - reaches into the cylinder head and activates its wax to open up the valve. A short thermostat is too short.
Did you reverse flush the radiator? Hope pipe into the bottom outlet and flush backwards to the cap. Also flush through the engine - bottom to radiator cap and same in reverse.
