Bought sister a 2007 Daihatsu Sirion with 1.0 engine. Amazing in town + economical. Problem on motorway she says it won't do over 60mph. With 2 kids in, 1st gear to go up a hill if steep. Have never owned a Sirion before is this normal that they are so underpowered? Feeling guilty seemed to have bought sister a pup can Forum members help?

1.0 litre 12 valve EJ-VE engine + heavier chassis = underpowered.
The 1.0 litre engine is best suited for the smaller cars like the Charade. I'd think the issue here is that you should have got the 1.3 litre variant. Or bought the 2003 - 2007 model of Charade.
Other things to check is when it was last serviced and make sure things like spark plugs air filter have been replaced. No ECU/MIL light on to indicate issues? No problems with front disc callipers catching (long shot I know if you are getting good MPG)?
