Wheels won't come off!

Forum:

Hi,

Looking for some advice please. My front wheels will not come off, the wheel nuts come out, but the wheels are jammed on. The back ones came off no problem after a tap with a mallet.

The wheels are alloy with the stainless center caps around the auto lock hubs. Seems to be jammed between autohub/centre cap/alloy...

I have tried every solution I could see on google including:
- bang the wheels with a block of wood and mallet
- drive about a bit with nuts loosened (up down curb etc)
- use a jack to try push them off
- use a winch to try pull them off
- use WD release spray to try soak around centre caps

nothing works Sad

Anyone seen this before and solved it?
Any clues for the clueless?

Thanks

smack the rubber tyre hard from the inside outward with a proper big hammer.

This will work but not recommended as a safe method

Slacken all wheel bolts and drive the vehicle normally, stop as soon as you feel vibration and tighten bolts. Your wheels are now free.

May take 1 mile or may take 100 but they will come loose eventually.

A safe method....to drive 100

A safe method....to drive 100 miles with slackened of wheel nuts? really? that's safe is it?!!!!.....pmsl

No. That's probably why the poster said it wasn't

You can probably speed things up a bit (and therefore reduce any potential danger) by driving over speed bumps.

Shouldn't have to do 100 miles to encounter shed loads of them.

Always worked for me.

Knowingly driving an unsafe vehicle, is classed as Dangerous Driving under Section 2, Road Traffic Act, 1988, and could earn you a two year holiday at H.M.'s pleasure!

Remove the caps

Alloy rims with stainless center suggests the stainless caps are removable. Is there a clip beneath the cap that is hidden Unknw

Wheels are off

Took a great big sledge hammer and an oxy set.
Lots of dings and a new rim or two needed.
Copper slip to be added in future...

Not sure if would work on 4*4

Not sure if would work on 4*4 if that what it is but good trick I tried and tested is to jack up the car a bit near the wheel you want off remove wheel nuts. ensure parking brake fully engaged on FWD and if possible strap car U use a second car and tight rope. Get in start and rev car pop the clutch up. Tyre traction verses clutch. always has equaled wheel popping off. You jack the car so when wheel comes off the car doesn't drop on to Tyre and damage body work.

Wheels won't come off!

Personally, I would have gone for the easy option and taken the vehicle to our local tyre depot, who are marvelous at sorting out tractor/trailer/plant tyre problems. OK it would have cost, but probably less than the price of new rims, and with none of the hassle!
